Re-vamped favourites and the latest technology

You may have heard of some of these all-star ingredients, but it is important to know how they work, how use them, and which are best for your skin type.

Gina’s Skin Care Experts are always available through email or social media to help you make the best product choice for your skin.

Retinol

Retinol is a form of synthetic Vitamin A that causes skin cell renewal and enhances Collagen production. By sloughing off dead skin cells—Retinol helps clear pores (acne), reduce fine lines (aging), and diminish hyperpigmentation (brown spots). New skin cell production leaves skin clearer, smoother, and brighter.

Retinol has been proven to be one of the most effective ingredients in Collagen production. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin and makes the skin appear full or plump. Collagen diminishes with age and skin loses volume. For this reason, Retinol is a key ingredient in a complete anti-aging skin care routine.

Not all Retinol products are created equally, and some will be much harsher and more dehydrating than others. The Retinol used in the Diego Dalla Palma skincare line is specially formulated to be safe and effective because it is encapsulated in Carnuba wax. This special encapsulation technology protects Retinol from degradation and delivers it through the layers of the skin to promote gradual release over time. This results in a prolonged and more gentle effect on the skin, while it protects and hydrates the skin.

Choose a well formulated gentle Retinol product that uses hydrating ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid. It is best used after cleansing and toning followed by a well-formulated moisturizer. Our Retinol gives you all the beneficial actions without any of the harsh side effects.

Pair your Retinol with an SPF.

Who should use it?

Retinol is an effective option for individuals of any age suffering with acne, looking to brighten their skin, eliminate dark spots, or anyone in their 20s or older looking to boost Collagen and reduce signs of aging. It is not suited to people with very dry sensitive skin.

Azelaic Acid

Azelaic Acid is a Dicarboxylic Acid found in grains like barley or wheat. It is an exfoliant but far gentler on the skin than most (such as Glycolic/Salicylic). In addition to its antimicrobial and exfoliating properties, Azelaic Acid has anti-inflammatory properties which makes it effective in treating rosacea.

Along with rosacea, Azelaic Acid is used to treat acne and hyperpigmentation (redness, blemishes, or brown spots). It promotes healing in the skin to reduce redness and inflammation, and the discoloration that comes with healing blemishes. It also encourages skin cell turnover which improves textural irregularities such as fine lines or scarring.

Azelaic Acid brightens the skin and prevents the skin from producing the pigments that can change your skin’s tone. By reducing inflammation it can prevent hyperpigmentation and prevent discolouration. It is effective in brightening the skin and reducing blotchiness.

Pair your Azelaic Acid with an SPF. Since Azelaic Acid is a gentle exfoliator it must be used consistently and over time to take effect.

Who should use it?

Azelaic Acid is pregnancy and breast-feeding safe. It is ideal for people with rosacea, inflammation, acne, or an uneven skin tone. It may be a good option for someone looking for an exfoliator with skin that is too sensitive for other harsher ingredients.

Revivyl™

Revivyl is a multi award-winning ingredient—including the winner of the Best New Active Ingredient at the Global Cosmetic Show in New York. Revivyl was discovered in the European Orobanche Rapum plant. It is receiving international recognition because it functions holistically on multiple layers of the skin.

On the surface it protects the good bacteria and the skin’s microbiome. While it’s easy to be convinced that harsher peels are more effective, it is important to remember that products that strip your skin are drying and disrupting your skin’s natural regulation. This dryness causes wrinkles and excessive oil production to compensate which can cause acne, inflammation, and irritation. It also leaves skin defenseless against external agents which will ultimately leave your skin less pure. Revivyl reinforces the skin’s barrier, reactivates natural exfoliation, and protects the skin’s microflora. You can think of Revivyl as working with your skin rather than against it.

On a deeper level, Revivyl works to stimulate skin cell renewal and maintain the activity of stem cells. At the age of 50, your skin needs 44% more time to renew itself than in your twenties. Revivyl boosts skin rejuvenation on a cellular level. This will be beneficial for reducing wrinkles, acne scars, imperfections, and uneven complexion while respecting the delicate skin balance.

Revivyl plays well with other ingredients like Retinol, Azelaic Acid, or Epidermal Growth Factor as they will support each other in functioning and protecting throughout the skin.

Who should use it?

Revivyl is a new essential for anyone in their 20s or older looking to maintain optimal skin condition and prevent skin degradation. It is also an important pairing for anyone—including teenagers—using Retinol, Azelaic Acid, or Epidermal Growth Factor to treat acne, discolouration, and texture irregularities.
