How to Take Care of Your Skin in the Colder Weather

Posted by on 24 January 2017

Canadians know how to make the most of the winter months. With sub-zero temperatures lasting for days, and even weeks, on end, we’ve learned to embrace the cold and actually enjoy outdoor activities like ice-skating, snowshoeing and skiing, as well as winter festivals and events.

Unfortunately, the Canadian winter can be pretty tough on the skin. The low humidity that accompanies colder weather, coupled with the use of indoor heating systems, can quickly leave your skin feeling dull and dehydrated. Colder temperatures can also irritate sensitive skin, making it susceptible to rosacea and broken capillaries.

At Gina’s, we have a few solutions that will help you take care of your skin in the colder weather so you can get out there and enjoy the winter months.

Prep your skin with a Perfect Facial

Gina’s Perfection Facial is perfect for prepping the skin to withstand the winter months. Pure vitamin C and other active ingredients are applied to the face and neck to reinforce the skin’s defenses, increase cellular regeneration and combat dry, lifeless skin. The multi-faceted treatment takes approximately an hour and also helps to reduce the signs of ageing and stress.

Repair, nourish and stimulate your skin with the Perfection A-B-C Kit

The Perfection A-B-C kit is a 3-phase system that can be used in combination with the Perfection Facial, or even on its own, to reinforce the skin’s defenses against free radicals, repair damage caused by age and the environment, and stimulate new cell regeneration.

The kit contains three serums that are designed to be used one at a time over the course of 30 days. Serum A is applied for the first 10 days to repair, nourish and hydrate the skin. Serum B is then applied for the following 10 days to reshape and contour the skin, giving skin a younger look. For the final 10 days of the system, Serum C is applied to stimulate the skin and encourage cell regeneration.

After completing the 30-day system, the skin feels firmer, with wrinkles smoothed and signs of aging greatly decreased, and your complexion will be brighter and more radiant.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

We always recommend making moisturizing a part of your everyday beauty routine, but especially during the winter months when the skin needs some extra TLC. Cold temperatures and artificial indoor heating sources can dehydrate the skin, making it look dull. If you’re not sure what moisturizer is best for your skin, first consider your skin type, i.e. normal, dry or sensitive, and then look for a moisturizer that has been formulated specifically for your skin. Cream moisturizers, for example, are ideal for dry skin because they nourish, replenish and protect.

Canadian winters can be pretty harsh, but that doesn’t mean your skin has to suffer. For more information about Gina’s amazing Diego Dalla Palma professional skin care line, and aesthetic and medi-spa services, contact us today!
